The green tea and lemongrass soap recipe
Thursday, December 6, 2007 | | |As I was browsing the Sunday paper this past weekend, there were a number of "spa" baskets with specially scented soaps and candles. One of the most popular perfumes was presented "Green tea and lemongrass." It brought good memories of my commercial soap making days, when one of my most popular perfumes is a green tea and lemon grass mixture. I used the oil of eucalyptus to balance the heavy citrus sweetness of lemongrass and green tea used instead of water.
I returned to my soap and files dug out my old recipe for you. You can use my combination of oils below, or do with any soap basic recipe.
INGREDIENTS:
* 8.3 oz. palm oil
* 5.5 oz. oil palm
* 6.4 oz. coconut oil
* 2.3 oz. cocoa butter
* 11 oz. olive oil
* 2.8 oz. castor oil
* 4.6 oz. soybean oil
* 5 oz. sunflower oil
* 6.4 oz. Lye
* 13 oz. water
* 4-8 C. tea. imbued with the green tea leaves
* 1 oz. essential oil of eucalyptus
* 1 oz. essential oil of citronella
* The yellow and green oxide turbulence (if desired)
PREPARATION:
This recipe is a little over 4 lbs. soap.
1. Make at least 13 oz. of double-strength green tea. Save the steeped leaves aside.
2. Let the tea cool completely!
3. Following the instructions to make soap with liquids other than water, do your laundry solution.
Again, I can not stress enough the fact that tea be completely (chilled is a better option even) cooled before doing your laundry solution.
4. Measure to all your oils, essential oils and dyes (if you use dyes.)
5. Make your soap lot as you would normally, following the soap basic instructions.
6. At the condition of tracks, add lemon grass and eucalyptus essential oils, and add about 1 / 2 - 1 tea. imbued with the leaves of green tea per pound of oils. In the recipe above, is roughly 4-8 v. tea. leaves.
7. Mix well. Add your colours / vortex, if you wish. In the lot shown on the picture, I made a whirlwind-two with yellow and green oxides.
8. Pour into the mold of your choice. That saponify overnight. Edge is strong enough to slice.
9. Let cure for 3-4 weeks.
10. Enjoy your green tea and lemongrass soap!
